Mother Nature

I saw the sweetest thing yesterday, and almost feel privileged that the mother bird did this in front of me...

I was outside spending some time with Boomer and a friend was here with me too and suddenly she jumped about 4 feet to the right and yelped out "Oh My God". Something just dropped right out of the tree right there by us. It was a baby mockingbird that the momma had pushed out of the nest to start teaching it the ways of life.

Im really glad I was out there too though because if that little thing had gotten in reach of Boomer, he probably would have killed it (not on purpose, he thinks everything is a toy). But it was the neatest thing to watch the momma bird teaching the baby how to search for food and all, and she would call him to her and he would hop along, very wobbly of course.

Every day it seems, I kick myself for not taking my camera outside with me so I could have gotten some pictures of this lovely event.
